- Monitor general operation and maintenance of plant equipment, collect and handle improvement ideas and promote an innovative environment. Recommend revisions to operating polices as applicable
- Anticipate on, and recognize and take action for events/ situations that could adversely affect production efficiencies and/ or safety performance.
- Keep abreast of technical developments by maintaining contact with other Company plants, suppliers and study of relevant literature.
- Actively participate in the quality improvement process and apply the principles of continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
- Provide a safe working environment through safety training, sound house-keeping practice and sustain mechanically safe machinery conforming to Company standards.
- Ensure optimum utilisation of raw material, plant and personnel by careful employment of all available resources.
- Manage risk/loss potential to personnel, equipment, and plant operations (production). Ensure all regulations (Company/Plant and country) are followed and reporting is accurate and timely.
- Ensure that the plant waste discharges conform to standards as set by the statutory authorities by controlling all waste treatment and pollution control equipment.
- Make an annual plan for the plant, set goals and priorities. Responsible for the keeping of balanced scorecards, and to set standards and goals based on the BU business plan. Communicate results with employees.
- Make 3 year plan for appropriations. Secure initial approval of requirements to move forward with request.
- Maintain plant records by designing of forms, their collecting and filing.
- Prepare capital commitments with responsibility for project work, and/ or project overview completion.
- Plan and install capital improvements as required from time to time.
- Negotiate request for funds with approving source.
- Monitor project and complete appropriate documentation and follow up.
- Oversee other smaller projects using appropriate project management tools.
- Ensure the input of the relevant COE is used prior to CR submission to ensure an acceptable PDRI is achieved.
- Responsible for execution of once approved projects, in time, within budget and safe.
- Execute and champion Company/Plant food safety, environment, health and safety procedures in plant operations.
- Oversee and ensure supervisors take their responsibilities for the compliance with the facility's FEHS plans (includes proper employees training, workplace inspections, topical meetings, maintaining compliance to operational safety/environmental procedures, critical safety devices integrity and timely reporting requirements).
- Participate in safety and environmental audits.
- Ensure all necessary permits are in place and current.
- Lead root cause analysis on all FEHS incidents of the defined magnitude and ensures change in all its many guises is managed and controlled according to policy and procedures.
- Demonstrate positive two-way communications, fair and consistent administration of company policy and procedures, responsiveness to employee concerns and problems.
- Meet quality specifications and customer requirements through proper employee training, leadership and process measurement and control.
- Maintain employee morale, productive workforce, and Business Unit/Company expectations.
- Give feedback and follow performance management process guidelines for ratings and compensation and the one-up process.
- Coach and counsel each employee for job and career direction. Use performance improvement plans for employees receiving a Meets Some and Below rating and develop plans for all employees.
- Participate in the selection of employees; plan for future needs; work to fill vacancies.
- Prepare and manage the operational budget. Track expenditures in each area, make adjustments to control costs as needed, and communicate progress to others (specify which others, employees/ higher management etc.).
- Ensure Company/Plant’s financial systems are implemented and followed. Use value measures to evaluate financial results. Make monthly reports and ensure department supervisors do also.
- Assure required functions are performed in a timely, accurate and safe manner and according to policies and procedures.
- Monitor purchasing at location including looking at preferred vendors.
- Coordinate interface with logistics.
- Coordinate product schedule between production and commercial. Ensure liaison with central purchasing and following of corporate procurement agreements.
- Identify priorities in the community, based on the business plan.
- Participate in community relations activities and encourage others to serve the community where the facility is located so to make a valued member of the community.
